Benefits Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytically minded Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on digging into data, spotting discrepancies before they become problems, and building efficient, accurate processes — whether or not they've worked in benefits administration before. While benefits experience is a plus, we are most interested in candidates who bring strong analytical skills, sharp attention to detail, strong Microsoft Excel ability, and a natural problem-solving mindset. We will teach the benefits side; we're looking for the analytical foundation.

What You'll Do:

Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Audit benefits enrollment, payroll deduction, and carrier billing data to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets, data review, and reports to monitor plan participation, costs, and trends
  • Reconcile monthly carrier invoices against enrollment records and investigate variances
  • Troubleshoot data issues between HRIS, payroll, and carrier systems, tracing root causes rather than just patching symptoms

Benefits Administration

  • Administer day-to-day operations of health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans
  • Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and terminations within required deadlines
  • Support open enrollment: prepare materials, load plan data, audit elections, and answer internal partner questions
  • Maintain accurate and compliant benefits records in the HRIS
  • Assist with COBRA administration, leave-of-absence benefits continuation, and required notices
  • Support compliance efforts related to ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify patterns or errors
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (comfortable with formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data cleanup); additional experience with formulas/macros is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, "figure it out" approach to unfamiliar issues
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information simply
  • Discretion in handling confidential employee information

Preferred (not required):

  • Prior experience with benefits administration, HRIS platforms, or payroll systems
  • Familiarity with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, or other benefits-related compliance requirements

Benefits:

  • Health insurance 100% paid by employer (for both employee and family)
  • Additional voluntary supplemental benefits including dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accident, critical illness, etc.
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid holidays and paid time off

Job Type: Full-Time.

Job Location: Lindon, Utah (In-Person/Hybrid)
